There's a Bit o' Snow

I started roof raking this morning and then my neighbor offered to do the whole roof for $35...Deal!
It really is a beautiful day out there even though It's in the teens...and yet the sun grows stronger every day and some of the snow is melting anyways.

The Task at Hand

I brought the snow pup in the house to warm it up....no sense in having a heart attack trying to start the snow blower - just irony aye?
The cold has subsided a little, only to be replaced by what the weather people predict will be around 8 inches of snow....so far it looks like there's 4 or 5 inches out there.
I'm trying to motivate myself to start caulking and a little mudding but it doesn't seem to be taking....maybe after I go outside and clear the driveway?

Staying Warmish

We're certainly enjoying a cold spell right now...if that's what you do for enjoyment. Here's a picture of my thermometer last night when I got home. It isn't accurate because I can't quite get the probe to go outside....instead this is a reading of the temp between the windows...still cold...this morning it read 5.6 and when I got to work 40 miles south of home the marquis read -9. There must be some kind of algorithym to figure out the real temperature at home, but I know by the squeaking of the snow underfoot and instant freeze of the nose......Sarah and Hannah - I hope you're soaking up that Florida sun.
I know I haven't posted in a while....I've sort of gone into hybernation I guess. There's a box of "winter scene" (cookies that have a chocolate top with different winter scenes pressed into them) cookies that my aunt Charlotte sent for my birthday. Although I'm really trying to lose weight, my calculations tell me that by the time the box is empty it'll be Spring. If the loosing weight goal remains true I should start inviting people over to eat them for me and just wait for an early Spring. Sarah would call this "Louise logic." Later on this Winter I'll give updates on how many cookies are left....

New Years Eve Feast

Last night Sarah and I had a seafood themed Eve complete with Oysters with Mignonette sauce and caviar, Maine shrimp and coconut rice, green beans with smoked almonds, smoked salmon, and smoked oysters and jalapeno cheddar cheese. I think I covered it...besides the fine conversation and only 1 minor Oyster shucking injury to my right index finger. Fun was had by all including M. Henri.
Today was just a wee bit less fun since we woke up to no hot water....an hour and a half later it was back thanks to the hair dryer I keep under the house for just that purpose. It sure was cold last night but now it's warmed up to be in the balmy teens. Hope there's hot water in the morning.
