Yesterday I mowed the lawn but didn't want to mow them down. I associate them with strawberries since they always come around the same time, although I haven't found any berries. Still, there'll be blackberries later on...right around when the Queen Ann's lace comes out.

They are indeed Indian Paintbrush, at least in my book. But Queen Anne invokes her royal prerogative when it comes to her silent "e" and has announced "off with your head." William of Orange might not recognize her without it.
Ouch! Again my spelling has shamed me.
